But it might be sooner than he thinks...

US officials think Kim Jong Il may be sick

By PAMELA HESS and MATTHEW LEE, Associated Press Writer 10 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Intelligence officials are watching signs that North Korea's unpredictable dictator Kim Jong Il may be gravely ill.

Incapacity of the man North Koreans call the "Dear Leader" would have serious implications for the international effort to get North Korea to abandon nuclear weapons.

There was no sign of Kim at a parade and celebration Tuesday marking the 60th anniversary of North Korea's founding, and the country's state media was silent about his absence. His last reported public appearance was in mid-August.

"There is reason to believe Kim Jong Il has suffered a serious health setback, possibly a stroke," a Western intelligence official said, speaking on condition of anonymity to describe sensitive intelligence gathering.

If, as the story states, power would be handed over to a family member or a military leader, I wouldn't expect too much to change, sadly.

He had a stroke after failing to make the usual 12 holes-in-one during his last round.

Kim Jong Il won the last Texas Hold 'Em tournament he played, easily sweeping the 100-person field with 99 royal flushes.

Didn't he once win a game of Connect Four in three moves? (cribbling liberally from Jack Bauer).

When KJI finally goes, I imagine a headline like the following Onion hed on Lenin's death in January, 1924....

LENIN DEAD FROM MASSIVE 'STROKE OF THE PEOPLE'; GLORIOUS LACK OF OXYGEN DISTRIBUTED EQUALLY THROUGH BRAIN
Brain parts shut down like proletarian workers laying down tools to paralyze bourgeois factory owner. Cerebral hemorrhage of Glorious Red Blood declared 'heroic victory for the communist vanguard'

KJI was at the parade, but he was propped up like Weekend at Bernie's.

Kim Jong Il suffered the stroke after fighting — and defeating — North Korea's top 350 heavyweight boxers in one day.
