An Ottumwa teen who plead guilty to raping a child will not serve any time in prison.

Kraigen Grooms, 19 was sentenced Monday by Judge Myron Gookin in the Wapello County Courthouse to served a 10 year suspended prison sentence after pleading guilty to one count of Engaging in a lascivious act with a child.

That doesn't appear to be what happened at all. Even the baby's family didn't want the teen to go to prison.
According to the county attorney, "The child was not injured, no pain was inflicted, and the child was too young to even be aware of what was happening," Oldenburger said. "The child suffered no ill effects as a result of Grooms' actions."

Seems more a case of internet child sex abuse, where the 16-year-old was led to perform an act on himself, with the baby in the room, by child pornographers posing as fellow teens. They then put it online.
More from the story: He also revealed that Grooms had not filmed the sex act with a baby girl himself or even known it was on video. Investigators from the Department of Homeland Security had said in March 2014 that "John Doe" posted screenshots of the video on an underground child pornography website.

Maybe the title of this thread should be changed, considering he didn't rape a 1-year-old on live video. A 16 year old was coerced by child pornographers to masturbate on camera while a baby was in the room, and unbeknownst to him the child pornographers put it on line.
    The teen served time.
Seems like the world's outrage has been misplaced because of really shoddy reporting (and investigators who can't say much because they still have their eyes on the real bad guys.)

This is an issue. In many states, teens who send the naked pics of themselves can be charged with distributing child porn. Cases have been prosecuted over this.
