KHL team involved in Russian plane crash

    Dynamo, which was to be Locomotiv's opponent, held a "hockey funeral" today.

    Video is in Russian, but you really don't need words to understand what's going on.

    I can't think of a way other than "very moving" to describe that without sounding trite or flip.

    Per reports out of Russia, Alexander Galimov, the lone player who survived the crash, has died from the burns.

    The funeral video is heartbreaking. What a gorgeous, creative reaction to this tragedy. And the music is glorious.

    Any word on if they will continue to field a team in the future/this season?

    Latest I've heard is that they will not field a team in the KHL this year but may have a team of younger players in the MHL (which is a lower level league) starting in December or so. Then they will return with a full KHL team made of those younger players and free agent signings in 12/13.
