Kentucky-Notre Dame gamer from AP ... um, what?

OK, was this an attempt at sarcasm by the AP writer, did he totally miss the boat on what Gillispie was saying or am I just misreading something? Because if I hear someone saying there's only judgment they'll ever be concerned about, I'm thinking it's probably coming from somebody a little higher up the food chain in life than the athletic director. You know ... God.

And, for everyone who doesn't have to edit AP copy, here is what we deal with on a daily basis. And this is the optional, since it has quotes...so it's already gone through the AP desk at least three times.

And that's ignoring the idiocy at the end.
  5. That's horrendous. It can't be sarcasm. It has to just be someone who just completely missed the point.

    Yeah, definitely not sarcasm.

    Just misinterpreted what Billy said.

    Man, this is awesome.
I was going to post the exact same thing.

The best is that he writes "Gillespie declined to answer when asked whose judgement he was referring to, saying it was obvious."

It just makes me smile thinking of this poor, (and in this particular case) clueless writer asking Gillespie in the presser who exactly he was talking about - as if anyone else on the planet would have been confused.

And then he just makes the leap that he was apparently referring to the AD. Man, classic stuff.

Um, and this is the person who covers NOTRE EFFING DAME for the AP?

Wouldn't being around so many religious figures help one understand a comment like that?
