She has had a zillion No. 1 hits, and most of them are quite catch pop songs. It's not my cup of tea, genre-wise, but I have a few of her songs on the iPod for the kids.

I'd way prefer her to do this halftime over the Who, the Stones, Petty, Springsteen, Madonna, U2, or anyone else 50 or over. The industry needs new stars desperately.

To each his own, I guess. I can't stand Mars's music, but he was channeling James Brown last year. He was fantastic.

Mars is a showman of the highest order. I don't go out of my way to listen to him but when I catch him performing I'll watch it.

Re: Madonna, just a matter of time. That will be ... something.

She already did it a few years ago, right? Didn't she trip on the bleachers or something?

I missed Madonna doing the Super Bowl? Really?

Damn, it was 2 years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W795W63n7mA

I've liked Mars on SNL, and I'm not disputing that he's talented, but the Super Bowl performance was an embarrassment.

Mars wasn't even close to being the worst thing about that halftime show. That honor goes to Anthony Kiedis doing a shirtless Dave Wannstedt imitation.

Well, Mars is supposed to be an A-list act. The RHCP peaked in 1991-92.

I might have missed why they put the Chili Peppers on. Was that a Bruno Mars decision, or Super Bowl decision?

But I'm watching Mars' part, and I'm failing to see anything less than strong. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2i0Bc3f7jk

The first 7:30 is as good as anything you're going to get for a live (truncated) show.

I didn't see the Chili Peppers perform. I'll be back in 5 minutes ...

I think Prince was the best I've seen in recent years.
