Why Does the MSM Keep Falling for Obvious Hoaxes?

 

That site has a story about someone pulling a gun on a Sam's Club shopper wearing a MAGA hat, which may be the ultimate right wing victim whiner headline. Kudos.

 

Uh, where have I "clung" to his lies? Nowhere.

 

The Cardiff Giant would like to know.

 

I don’t think the MSM is populated with gullible folks so much as the front lines of a news organizations Web site - the web content people - aren’t the best journalists and don’t run twitter accounts with much nuance.

 

A blog post that accuses the media of falling for hundreds of hoaxes links to a message board dedicated to listing fake hate crimes that links to newspaper stories exposing those hoaxes and counts on readers not being savvy enough to make the connection. There’s lots of gullible to go around.

 

The derisively named MSM falls for some hate crime stories that aren’t true. And State run Fox and rightwing media don’t believe stories that are true like mass shootings, climate change and collusion.

There’s a lot of shit for all the pigs to roll in.

 

Why does Fox News/ POTUS keep saying there is a border crisis; prayer rugs; uranium one; the fbi tipped off cnn about roger stone, etc..etc.

You can’t say the msm falls for fake stories when the right-wing media does the same things.

It’s big news when the msm screws up...no one seems to give a shit when hannity lies at every turn.

 

So no print journalists at respectable newspapers believed this lunatic's horseshit?

 

To Alma's point, part of the problem now is the error-riddled early reporting the public never used to see.

It was always there, but the relatively long cycle between print editions or newscasts gave reporters and editors time to catch up to the facts.

There was also no Twitter, so reporters weren't commenting publicly on unsubstantiated reporting.

That said, whether we're talking about Smollett or the Cardiff Giant or Tawana Brawley or Sherry Hall, the press catches up eventually.
