Seen on Twitter: Ryan Lochte did the same thing while representing America at the Olympics and was welcomed back to dancing with the stars a few weeks later.

I can’t qwhite put my finger on why the different reactions for the two cases exist...

 

The same thing? Yeah no

 

Of course it’s not the same thing. Lochte was trying to cover up for his own violence and Smollett was being uppity

This is an absurd comparison.

 

They both fabricated attacks for personal reasons and lied about it to the police. Other than the skin color of the hoaxer and the fake perpetrators, why is it different?

 

1. Lochte lost all four of his commercial sponsors.
2. Lochte was suspended for 10 months.
3. He was barred from Olympic training centers and dropped from the delegation that visited the White House (when that still carried prestige).
4. Charges against him were eventually dropped because his false claims were made to a broadcaster and NOT to the police.

But he competed on DWTS, proving no one gave a shit because he's white.
