I read those books, too. Loved 'em. The case you're talking about, the sword had an inscription saying it was from the first battle of Bull Run -- which proved it was a fake, because how could they know there would be a second battle of Bull Run?

    What does that even mean?

    Take it at face value.

When leftist ideology achieves it's true goals, it results in the mass killing of political enemies. Discussing this makes leftists uncomfortable.

Maybe that's what it was. I swear there was a Bull Run/Manassas disconnect, too, though.

You are aware that liberals espouse personal freedom as long as it doesn't harm anyone else, while conservatives believe in rigid conformity, right?

Liberals believe you have the right to believe whatever you want, as long as you don't infringe on others. Conservatives believe you must obey the prevailing belief of the land, such as religions. There was a reason why the Republican Party was leading the way to try to ban the Communist Party in the 40s and 50s. Liberal Democrats believed that if you ban one party, others could be banned as well, which goes against America's freedoms. Conservatives, on the other hand, were so afraid they're lose at the ballot box, they tried to ban the opposition.

Liberals believe deeply in Socialism. Socialism infringes very, very, very, very deeply on others. Liberals are either very stupid or hypocrites.

Liberals also want to strong-arm others into embracing their defective ideologies.
Rahm Emanuel is a great model of the intolerant, tyrannizing liberal.

Way to douche up a thread with ditto-head "LIBERALS ARE SOOO BAD!" tripe.

Before the lock, allow my recommendation: If you want to read about D-Day, I recommend Joe Balkoski's books. Meticulous research.

Yes, the 40-hour workweek and getting rid of child labor is a defective ideology.

Socialists are team players. Are you saying being a team player infringes on the rights of others.

Similarly, I strongly recommend the National WWII Museum in New Orleans. I visited it before Katrina, but I understand it has improved immensely in the intervening years. The Nimitz Museum in Fredericksburg, TX, is also damn good.

    Great museum.

Went on a "guys getaway" a few years ago, and we spent hours there. Kind of nerdy for what was supposed to be a weekend of drunkenness and debauchery, but well worth it.
