T.O. is missing about 35 pills, that should save at least 1 person's job.

Amen, A_F, especially when the 27-inch will do (quite well, in fact).

And sorry to hear about your buddy losing his job. At least they didn't find out they got fired via e-mail, a la RadioShack.

I appreciate all the kind thoughts, but nobody worry about me -- I'll be well taken care of:

So, just in case in some wild event I should happen to depart the employ of my beloved JRC, y'all be sure to stop in at Bobby J's Used-Car and Office Equipment Supermall. We'll have a wide selection at reasonable prices!!

    ;) ;)

  6. Has there been a definitive profile written of JRC and its tactics? Has anyone ever challenged the way these guys do business in print, hold these clowns' feet to the fire? Make Jelenic et al respond? Sounds like it would make a great feature in Forbes, Business Week or any of those mags? E&P anyone?

My former ME, who was fired during the period I had been laid off, was denied unemployment compensation by JRC, and she had to go to court to get it. Ironically, the key witness for her was her predecessor, who before he retired had been essentially a prostitute for JRC. Perhaps the fact that he had lost access to his $150,000 nest egg in the mishandling of 401(k) money (he had guaranteed investment contracts with JRC's investment house, which went belly up) had something to do with it.
I hadn't been in the plan for long and only had about 10 percent in GICs, so I only lost a few hundred bucks (got most of it back several years later after my union sued). Some of the veterans had $40-50K tied up for years.

This is the story that has been linked on the board repeatedly, and the author ended up pissing off Jelenic something fierce.

I haven't seen it mentioned before, but apparently, there's talk that if Tribune divests itself of some of its smaller papers, JRC would be a candidate to buy the Courant.

What an awful turn of events that would be.

It doesn't take much to piss me off. I am working on my people skills, however.

Completely meaningless. The paper is in a circ category that allows it to dominate. There is absolutely no competition.
