Mariano Duncan wears 42 because he was grandfathered in when the number was retired.

It turns out that Arthur Rhodes will probably wear 42 for the Mariners. I'll be interested to see who wears the number for the other teams; whether some teams have no player who wears 42; and who will wear it for the Giants.

At first I thought boots was doing a Bandwagon Boy impersonation with that Mariano Duncan line. Were those chocolate-covered donuts, bootsie? ;)

Actually good strawberry jelly filled ones with powdered sugar. Just what I like on a day where the mercury decides it would rather go south than north.

Torii Hunter will wear #42 for the Twins.

    Good choice.

I'm trying to make a list in my head ... please fill out as necessary ... not with guarantees, with who should wear it.

Boston - Ortiz Detroit - Seattle - Rhodes
New York - Rivera Cleveland - Sabathia Oakland -
Baltimore - White Sox - LAA - Garrett Anderson
    Tampa - Twins - Hunter Texas -
    KC -

    Atlanta - Cincy - Junior Colorado -
NYM - Randolph? Cubs - Derrek Lee Los Angeles -
Florida - Dontrelle Stros - San Diego -
Philly - Ryan Howard Brewers - Bill Hall San Fran - Please Jesus Ray Durham
    Washington - STL -
    Pittsburgh

I don't think black players need to wear it to honor Robinson; Some black players like Sabathia and Willis come to mind because of their belief that there aren't enough blacks in MLB. A guy like Garrett Anderson or Derrek Lee would be ideal - someone who represents Robinson on and off the field and happens to be black. Still, I find it hard to believe that a white player should wear the number.

    Baltimore -- Melvin Mora?

    Tampa -- Carl Crawford?

    White Sox -- Jermaine Dye?

The individual teams web sites likely have stories up if they've decided.

Baltimore might be Corey Patterson. Bill Hall is a good choice for the Brewers, as is Prince Fielder (who played first, like Robinson for part of his career).
