On a site full of media members, there sure were a lot of gleeful "Questions!!!!" regarding Palin, Bristol, and babies.

Palin didn't get more criticism than the average national politician. At least, not to a level that was inappropriate considering her standing and the amount of media these days.

But the tone and focus were every bit as dumb as the group that wanted to see Obama's birth certificate. It wasn't coverage, it was Websites throwing out bullcrap. Whether or not that constitutes "media" or "journalism" is up to the reader or viewer.

It makes me very happy that Spinning27 hasn't posted on these boards since 10/10/08.

"Speaking to Fox New's Sean Hannity"

"anchor who's line of questioning facilitated one of the most memorable"

What's wrong with journalism? How about a dire need for copy editors?

And how can she get off saying she won't do interviews with people who are "harming" journalism when speaking with the Hannity?

She works for Fox. Why should she give an interview to its competitors?

Dan Quayle, perhaps. He got hammered pretty badly when he came out of nowhere.

    Quayle is a possibility.

Which probably makes her the best person who could be president.

Update: Channel flipping in a doctor's office today I saw MSNBC's discussion of Palin and these reality shows she and her daughter are on (Palin's Alaska, Dancing with the Stars) and saying both benefit them. That's MSNBC's political take on America...it's all about image. Like some effing Student Council election.

Palin is politically inept. She would be a horrible world leader. But she knows how to pull the strings of the chattering class.

Has a failed VP ever gotten this much attention two years after the election?

Yep, the true test of the media-at-large is posts on an internet forum.

The biggest problem with letting Ms. Palin critique journalism ethics is that she has shown very little understanding of how fractured "media" has become. Shottey's post above mine is actually a legitimate point. She can't get angry about stuff that gurgles up from the dark recesses of the Internet, and use it as an example of the media's bias. Most of what she's upset about -- the criticism of her family -- in no way, shape, or form came from the mainstream credible media.

Punditry is not journalism, as someone pointed out earlier. TMZ posting pictures of Bristol getting drunk is not journalism. The ranting on Daily Kos is not journalism.
