    You're right. Buchanan's not a populist by any means. But his stuff about the white civilization under attack reads like it's right out of the GOP/Tea Party Politics of Fear 2010 Handbook.

    The novel is 85 years old, and just reading a scene like that puts all this current fear-mongering about Hispanics and Mooslems!!! in the context it very much deserves.

    And South Park mocks Gatsby.

    I love South Park, but in this instance, the boys can kiss my ass (. . . . I'm going home . . . )

    Buchanan is a doddering old idiot. He only claims to be a populist because he thinks that's where the money is. Thankfully, he's on MSNBC mainly for the entertainment value these days, I think.
