Michigan radio reports an afternoon press conference for a "an announcement concerning the football program."

God, what is wrong with that program. It seems no matter is at the helm it continues to sink.

    Firing now?

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but then again, letting your hiring leak at the halftime of a bowl your next coach is coaching doesn't either.

    You stay classy, East Lansing.

Halftime of the IU game would have been a better time.

From mlive.com and Steve Grinczel's blog. Grinczel covers MSU for Booth News Service, which has seven Michigan papers.

Did UNC set this in motion by canning Bunting? Since the Heels have started their search, does that force other schools to go ahead and get rid of someone so they have a shot at the same top people Carolina is after?

Will John L. Smith hold a separate presser in which he slaps himself in the face again?

Actually, Florida set it in motion when it fired Ron Zook a few years ago midseason, thereby undercutting everyone in the Urban Meyer Derby. Pete Thamel wrote about that recently, and I'm sure Michigan State took notice when North Carolina fired Bunting.

Though I don't think UNC will pursue Steve Mariucci and I don't think MSU will be after Paul Johnson.

Just make sure you set your cell phones to vibrate for John L.'s presser.
