It's a good career move. Now Boehner can become Feherty's Ed McMahon on the Golf Channel.

Who are the Congressional Dems who hold a "moderate" position on abortion?

I'm sincerely asking this: What is a moderate position on abortion right now?

A guy like George H.W. Bush is who I have in mind when I think of moderate on abortion. Big into family planning, was a backer of PP. Even as president, when he said he was for overturning Roe v. Wade, he nominated Souter, who he knew wouldn't overturn it. And yet, he was bothered by the number of abortions and spoke on that.

I don't see many politicians coming from that perspective anymore.

Nah, it'll be over "states rights" again. Each state will come up with their own Constitution, which will look suspiciously like ours, only the 28th Amendment will have a ban on abortion, the 29th Amendment will be a requirement that everyone must pray to a Christian God five times a day, the 30th Amendment will ban gay marriage and the 31st Amendment will require everyone to own at least three guns, and carry one of them at all times.

I would see not trying to gut a constitutional right as a moderate position.

Holding up a budget over a bank bailout, for example, or over the minimum wage...those can be points statesmen can want to settle before barging ahead. But holding it up over minuscule funds for one organization in what equates to a bill of attainder,,,not so much
