So his current quarterback refers to him as Joe in that article, and Terrelle Pryor called him JoePa in his original press conference. Is it common for college football players to refer to their coach (or prospective coach) as something other than "Coach"?

"Outed as PSU?" What does that stand for?

    Play Station User?

He's pretty spry for a guy in his 80s. ;D

Seems like a lot of speculation and no real information to me.

And really, Pryor is the lead? After all this time, losing one recruit is going to be that big a deal?

Joe Pa will inform the university when he's done coaching.

PSU is one of the rare situations in college football where the moneyed alums care more about the coach than about national championships. That's not to say they'll accept a bunch of 5-7 and 6-6 seasons with no questions asked, but they are not going to try telling the administration that Joe's gotta go.

  7. I thought that too, but I'm not so sure anymore.
There have been rumblings for months that PSU is NOT going to extend his contract and he will be gracefully, yet forcefully, shown the door after 2008.
I think the guy should be allowed to leave in his own terms, unless the team starts with a few more 6-6 seasons.

Disagree. When it's time to go, JoePa will say so. Of course, that might only happen when he dies, but he's earned that right.

  9. I think that's been standard with him.

As long as it's doing something he loved.
