BYH is inspired tonight... Clemens spit the bit and Jeter is sucking!

    Doubtful.

I think it will be Mattingly and Girardi will be his bench coach.

"You're not surprised by whatever comes down the pike," Torre said. "You don't always get used to it, but you understand if you want to work here -- and there's a great deal of upside to working here -- that there are certain things you have to deal with. We've had ultimatums during the season, early in the season. This obviously is down to a game we need to win, and you'd like to believe everybody's trying to pull in the same direction."

He needs to go somewhere other than Pittsburgh to build anything. I'm not sure any manager can win with that disaster. Limited talent. Terrible player development (prospect after prospect flames out). Brutal ownership and a system that makes it tough for any low-revenue franchise to win.

Talk about something that might make Torre's head explode.

Still, hate to see him have this crap come out, but I can't say I'm surprised to hear Steinbrenner said it.

It's all image control for Steinbrenner anyway.

Point the finger and deflect the heat. Business as usual.

If Torre leaves, he will want alot of money. He doesn't do all of the endorsements because he likes tea. Will Pittsburgh or KC give him a raise? StL?

Steinbrenner probably has dementia and the team knows it. In reality, George probably has zero say in anything that goes on with that franchise. Rather than humiliate and embarrass him when he's this ill, no one says anything and every defers to him publicly. Torre will be back next year to manage a team with Wang, Pettitte, Chamberlain, Hughes and Kennedy in the starting rotation. He's not worried and Cashman knows this was a rebuilding year in the pitching staff.
