    wasn't sure whether to add this to one of the many jeter threads in 'sports and news.' finally decided this was the best place for it as a 'stand alone' thread. bravo to joe p. for capturing the essence of what makes jeter, well, JETER, into much smarter perspective than i've ever been able to do:

    At this point, I read every word Pos writes. His love of sports shines through his writing more clearly than anyone else's. But I do think we have a few too many threads devoted to discussing him.

    My older brother introduced me to Posnanski, and I've been hooked ever since. I thought it was a very well-written piece overall, but the top paragraph confused me a little. I'll look at the 3K hit list, but off the top of my head, not sure Biggio would be remembered for anything but getting hits.
