Sonny pointed out the rule after Sam Huff suggested the Redskins take a second timeout.

Did Gibbs thank Jesus for giving him the wisdom to call those timeouts?

Sam isn't drunk. He's just feeble and senile. Those hits he took 50 years ago have caught up with him.

The Redskins, like every other NFL team, have a zillion assistant coaches on the payroll, and none of them knew or bothered to inform Gibbs that he couldn't call a second timeout? Gibbs deserves the ultimate blame, but that's team-wide incompetence.

You're assuming they knew he was going to do it. (Maybe they did; I didn't see the game.)

Somehow, I doubt he went around polling his assistants about whether he should take a second timeout. I'm guessing they had no idea he was going to do it until he did it.

    EDIT: beat me to it.

Don't have a link, but supposedly Gibbs said at the PC today he was not aware of the Sean Taylor tribute (lining up with 10 men on the first defensive play).

I agree. I think the force out rule is idiotic.

But here's the exception that proves the rule ...

Apparently, DC Gregg Williams didn't tell Gibbs.

He's in headset communication with assistants in the booth, and he's got others with him on the sideline. You think he was keeping it a secret from all of them? Why would he do that? It's more likely that during the first timeout, he was discussing calling a second one.
