Is Crede even a top 10 guy today? I'm much rather have any of these guys...

    David Wright
    Miguel Cabrera
    ARod
    Scott Rolen
    Eric Chavez
    Aramis Ramirez
    Hank Blalock
    Troy Glaus
    Freddy Sanchez

Hawk didn't say best fielding. He said best.

I agree -- both Ed Sprague and Brook Jacoby belong on a list of 3B better than Joe Crede.

The guy wins one World Series, has a couple of good seasons brewing, and he's better than George Brett and Mike Schmidt and Brooks Robinson.

As a regular viewer of White Sox games, I'm pretty sure he was talking about Crede in the field.

  8. I heard it, as I said, in real time. He said "best" period.

There's no way he believes that. When he said "third baseman," I'm sure he was referring to Crede's fielding.

Why wouldn't he believe it? The guy is a total idiot. He probably thinks Ozzie Guillen was better than Ozzie Smith, and that Joey Cora pisses all over Rogers Hornsby. In Hawk's book, Lance Johnson was a better player than Lou Brock.

Last year he said he'd take Joe Crede and Juan Uribe over A-Rod and Derek Jeter.

Also last year, every time a fan emailed to ask about a possible Ken Griffey Jr. trade, Hawk would get irritated and shout, "Where would he play on this team?" At the time, "this team" was struggling to score two runs a game and had watched a 15-game lead cut to 1 1/2 games.
