Job interview question: What if they ask how committed I am to a low salary?

Good smaller papers realize what they are, if they are doing their job right, staffers are continually moving up in the business. Those that move on refer other talented people they know to the paper. Indentured servitude is kind of passe.

That's the other thing. I told them that while salary was important, that it was also important to me to be in a good situation, and that I might be willing to overlook the low salary a little. But I guess they didn't bite.
