The Herald-Tribune manages to churn out one outstanding high school football preview section after another -- perhaps the best preview section in the nation for a newspapers of its size.

My first sports editor, who taught me more than a thing or two way back in Athens, Ohio, works at Yakima. I wish him and the rest of the Sports staff the best. May no cuts come their way -- or, from this point, anybody else's way, either.

i hope the publisher loses his left nut in a hunting accident ... i really do. cute catch phrases concerning people losing their jobs is bullshit.

  3. In Yakima that's always a possibility.

The Palm Springs of Washington, per the sign on the edge of town.

wow. washingtonians know yakima as the armpit of the state, just behind walla walla and the tri-cities.

Tri-Cites? No doubt. Walla Walla? I'm surprised. Seems like a nice small town with a pretty mountain backdrop. Could be wrong, though.

I thought we decided a while ago that Wapato was the ugliest place in Washington?
