People don't get to be the best in the world by settling for what they have.

The other day I was in a class at my gym during the daytime which was filled entirely with ladies. When the teacher asked for an extra batch of pushups I loudly said "Fuck!"

    It happens.

Under most circumstances, I try to refrain from cursing. I've gotten to a point where I can refrain pretty nicely when I'm playing ultimate with a Christian group I know.

However, if the mood strikes me, you better fucking bet that I'm going to use every Goddamn curse word in my arsenal. And if you've got something to say about it, shut the fuck up.

    :D

I'm willing to go along with Gator's suggestion that Tiger might perhaps be mortified at how he acts on the golf course when the adrenaline stops pumping. I'm also willing to think it's entirely possible that his therapist told him he needs to take a full bottle of chill pills when he's playing competitively.

If Tiger were genuinely trying to dial back his intensity for the sake of becoming a better person, I'd be all for it. However, that would require him being genuine, which I think anyone with any level of intelligence has learned to doubt.

If he's doing it for him, fine. If he's doing it in an attempt to win back "role model" status or some more bling, then he remains just as fake now as he was back in his heyday.

So Junkie, not to bust your chops, OK, well a little, but if the mics aren't on, swearing's OK? So if Woods cuts loose with a string of expletives on the fourth hole on Thursday before the broadcast starts, it's no thing? I used to cuss often on the course, but then I realized it was stupid, as I was really having a good time, except with the %^&#!@ pitching wedge. That's the thing about Woods' cussing that interests me. It indicates he is NOT having a good time. To a certain extent, I think he's really mad at golf, the sport that defines him, and not incidentally, has helped make him so weird.

This is the most ridiculous controversy ever.

Woods should never have promised to change, because it's not reasonable to expect as long as he competes to be the best. We expect these guys -- especially those competing for "our teams" -- to perform at the highest level, to push themselves to the extreme. We criticize them in print, online and over the airwaves if they don't.

The best athletes I've ever covered have one thing in common: They will do whatever it takes to win. All they care about is being the best. And, sometimes, when they do something wrong, they swear. To say these guys shouldn't care because they have a comfortable lifestyle or because playing golf is better than anything else -- that's totally missing the point. More than anything else, Woods wants to be the greatest. That's why, when he was already better than his contemporaries, he broke down his game and started over.

If TV personalities can't handle the fact athletes swear, they shouldn't put mics on them or near them.

I have to admit I got annoyed when my 3 year old was in the room when Tiger cursed. Only because she repeats everything.

I read last week that Arnie told Tiger that his outbursts and behavior... Quote... "That just isn't done."

I doubt Jack and Arnie let the profanity fly on the course. There's lots of film and video of both.

Well we know mistress 1 was flown to Australia for an entire tournament, and there was talk of accompanying him to Dubai. It wasn't just for the pro-ams, sorry. TMZ got ahold of the e-mails and itinerary Tiger's friend Bryon Bell sent her.

Then I believe #5, aka Perkins, recently said he liked it before playing a round.

Another one (blonde w fake boobs) also said she was flown in for tournaments and given an adjoining room.

It's weird how some people are still having a hard time accepting this.

Or that people take the word of porn stars as gospel. I don't know either way, but I'd be a bit weary of a mistress with a story to sell.

None of those 3 were porn stars, and Uchitel didn't sell her story.

Guys, guys what bothers you so much about Tiger getting some during a tournament?

Who among us hasn't had sex the morning of an important job interview or the night after a big test? It can be a stress release, yes?

As long as he was doing it, what's the big deal about doing it during tournaments? Is it somehow even more upsetting for you?

They ought to mike the entire family behind the Duke bench at Cameron one night. Dooky V. could
provide running commentary on the verbal
    creativity.

Gilding this family with the wholesomeness brush
    is laughable.

Funny how almost every other player on the tour, most of whom hit many more bad shots that Mr. Woods, can play the game without cursing up a blue streak or slamming clubs when they make a boneheaded shot.

I hope he continues swearing, etc., and continuing to look and act like the entitled little man he himself said he'd become. At some point, even playing the game at the highest level isn't enough to offset acting like a jerk, as Barry Bonds eventually discovered, in the eyes of the public.

Nor are these big tour events or majors.
