Hooboy. It's like the man said to himself, "Self, how can I keep SportsJournalists.com in business this week?"

"We've changed our model a little bit, because we wanted more than one of these," Irsay says, flicking up his right hand to show his Super Bowl XLI championship ring.

"(Tom) Brady never had consistent numbers, but he has three of these," Irsay adds. "Pittsburgh had two, the Giants had two, Baltimore had two and we had one. That leaves you frustrated.

"You make the playoffs 11 times, and you're out in the first round seven out of 11 times. You love to have the Star Wars numbers from Peyton and Marvin (Harrison) and Reggie (Wayne). Mostly, you love this."

    John Fox was not pleased.

Should be an awesome tribute Sunday!

Someone should point out to Irsay that he'd have zero of those rings if Manning hadn't played there.

Looking forward to Manning hanging 50 on them come Sunday.

Weird quote, considering the rest of the article showed some solid logic and mutual understanding about the Manning-Colts split.

So what does Irsay say if Andrew Luck has a career like Dan Marino?

    Fixed that for you.

Yup. Beating Rex Grossman in the rain of Miami still counts though, right?

I love that Irsay said it. Now if the Colts happen to make the playoffs and knock off the Broncos, people will wonder if Irsay got in Manning's head. Probably not.

If nothing else, Irsay just took the heat off Luck after the Chargers' loss and put it, squarely, on himself. Bold move.

Same thing he says if Andrew Luck has a career like Tom Brady: "Pour me another one."

Yeah, he says he's recovered, but he sure doesn't act like someone sober.

Was there heat on Luck after that loss? Enough heat to prompt this?

Like Morrie in Goodfellas, Irsay talks so much nobody believes anything he says. Nobody cares what he says.

I think a scenario where Irsay looks at his reflection and addresses himself as "Self..." is probably closer to reality than we could ever believe.
