There are very few teams that still do this.

I believe Grant has always had an office at Winter Park.

I think Kelly might also do some instructional work.

Speaking of Grant, his kid is a high school coach in Minnesota. Took his team to Canada to play a couple of games there. Canadian rules:

Paying him 500,000 a year was stupid.

But really, you guys wouldn't be pissed if your boss wanted you to stick around for 80% less of your salary? When you didn't need the cash?

They overpaid him to begin with and now they have a PR problem. This is on the Browns.

Kind of funny that Whitlock made a national name for himself and landed on Oprah's couch by calling Jackson and Sharpton shakedown artists who showed up for a large payout for a small ceremonial role, and now he's supporting Jim Brown's quest to continue showing up for a large payout for his small ceremonial role.

From one of the Comedy Central roasts:

    Jimmy Kimmel to Drew Carey:

"By the way, Cleveland sucks. Your football team is the same color as shit."

If he burns his bridges with the New Browns, there won't be any, with the possible exception of the Raiders, depending on how irrational a mood Al Davis is in on any given day.

So instead of getting paid $100,000 a year to do nothing, he'll get paid nothing to do nothing.

Maybe he should give Brown the stick to soften him up first, then.

I'm sure he can get a job with the league office. They're into all that rah-rah college-type bullshit that distracts people from their heroes getting Alzheimer's by age 50 and their public coffers being looted for a stadium. There has to be $250K worth of graft in the budget for the L.A. effort.

And people say the days of the round table at the Algonquin are gone forever.

Under the rule of Get-Tough Goodell, I think Brown's domestic-violence record, not to mention his hair-trigger race-carding, will keep him out of the role of "senior spokesman" for the NFL in any official capacity.

He'll be invited to the HOF and to make intermittent speeches, but he won't be on the payroll.
