Those are interesting questions. Vague, but interesting...

These would have been my answers when I was still in the business.

    Do you currently bet?
I usually go to Vegas once a year. When I'm there, I go to the sportsbook and place bets legally.

Do you know a media member who bets? Of course. Who doesn't? I can't believe the number is only 84 percent. I'll bet the other 16 percent say they don't masturbate. :D

Bet an event they covered? Well, I've done NCAA pools every year since I was six and I covered 12 NCAA Tournaments. Does that count? I also placed a standard bet on the Super Bowl for several years with a friend who would go to Vegas for the game. I covered several of those Super Bowls, but none of those games involved the team I covered. Did I ever bet on a game that involved the team I covered as my beat? No.

Placed a bet from the press box? God no...

    My answers:

    1. No
    2. Of course
    3. No -- back when I was covering the NCAA tournament regularly I was too damn busy around that time of year to even think about getting into a pool
    4. Hell no

    1) Does betting include being active in pools? Or, does it include a $5 bet with a buddy on a game you're working? I've never bet with a bookie, but have done both of those things.

    2) Yes

    3) Yes

    4) Does that count buying into a game-winning goal pool? Or a total score in a football-game pool? Then yes.

Holy crap Elliotte. If you consider yourself active in a certain hockey pool, that is really stretching it.
