The 1980s had the best uniforms, pretty much across the sports.

Cal broke out the throwbacks for the USC game if you missed them. I always figured the Brewers had to use that Miller Beer "M" as part of the stadium deal.

Since we're mentioning new MLB uniforms, the Padres unveiled their full-time return to the brown about a week and a half ago:

Proposed: Every uniform in every sport was better in 1965.

Probably so, except none of the guys in hockey were wearing helmets. That is insane in retrospect. Last night I was briefly watching the Isles/Pens game and some player on the Isles was standing in front of the Pens' goal and a slapshot from a teammate hit him right above the left ear. Pieces of his helmet blew off and he dropped like a sack of potatoes. Even the Pens players were waving for the trainers. I thought he was in big trouble, but after a few minutes he managed to skate off.

What I assume is some Nike template has ruined college football uniforms.

The 1965 cutoff eliminates the ABA, USFL, and XFL.

The NFL and Major League baseball were miles better 54 years ago.

I was watching nfl films last night, looking at the horrific Vikings numbering.

I don't know why some of these teams are reticent to go back to what was best or most notable for them.

Brewers should go back to the royal blue, yellow and powder blue.
Nuggets should bring back the rainbow.
Padres should either go back to the brown and yellow of 1984 or at least do the brown and orange of the late 80s.
The Mavericks, considering how many stupid jerseys the NBA has, should have at least one with the old M with a cowboy hat on.
