Fred and Ellen Ripken are considering attending, along with Billy and Cal Ripken.

Well, he was probably 49 last year.

Reminds me of an umpire who called Sparky Anderson "George" because he refused to call a 60-year-old man "Sparky."

THANK YOU for that Play. :D

And I think Mike Piazza used to call Chipper Jones "Larry" b/c he wasn't calling a grown man Chipper.

You're stlll short a Marx. There were five of them who were in the act at various times. Or at least in the family. Hell, it's 2 a.m. Do your own fact-checking. I'm going to bed.

Play, I've only heard that story about Piazza/Chipper.

Sparky preferred being called George, especially by anyone who knew him well off the baseball field. (And that only grew stronger after he retired.)

I'll assume the invitations did not arrive in time for Henry Mathewson and his brother Christy?

I'm sure Chris Gwynn has a LOT of time on his hands, even if his older brother Tony doesn't.

    Has confirmed he'll attend ...

(As an aside, Griffey is wearing a Jacksonville Suns uni in that card. He hit .220 with a .294 slugging percentage as a 23-year-old at Jacksonville in 1994. Kinda stretching the meaning of "top prospect", no?)
