Yup. The not-quite-immortal Mark Smith won that with a 3-run homer in the bottom of the 10th. I was there that night. Probably the best atmosphere they have had for a game in Pittsburgh in 15 years (they had a big crowd because it was Fireworks Night).

Yeah, what's up with that? They're not even providing updates.

Angels have two on and two out. This has a chance to go a full nine.

And the AP ignores the rules.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Angels' Jered Weaver and Jose Arredondo combined to no-hit the Dodgers in a 1-0 loss.

This is when I wish Fleer still made goofy baseball cards.

It would be great to see a card in the 630s or 640s of a dour-looking Weaver and Arredondo, holding balls (!!!!) that say "No-Hitter, 6/28/08, LAD 1, LAA 0."

Joe Torre: "Fuck you assholes, I can WIN when my team is no-hit by multiple pitchers, too!"

Who was it that threw a six-inning-or-so perfect game? Tom Browning, I think?

Does he get demoted too because of the rule change?

EDIT: Browning's was the real deal. David Palmer of Montreal in '84 (five innings) was the one I remember. And he did not get credit.

Yes. If it's not nine innings, it doesn't count.
