Jeff Bagwell and Fred McGriff - HoFers?

Jeff bagwell and Fred McGriff were great players but is either, both or neither Hall of Fame worthy?

    I don't. Then again, neither does Rob Neyer. And he knows more about the game than at least half of the voters.

    I voted Bagwell yes, McGriff no.

    As mentioned before, Bags could steal bases and was a legitimate threat to do so. He also had impressive home run numbers playing in a ballpark that made RFK look like a hitter's paradise. He brought a fear factor to pitchers that you have to bring if you want to get in legitimately for your bat. Plus, he was at least an above average defensive first baseman. Bagwell should get in, though he's certainly not a first ballot HOFer.

    McGriff was a liability with his glove and was a solid, but not overwhelming batsman. He belongs in the Hall of Above Average, not the Hall of Fame. Plus, anyone who plays for the Devil Rays should turn in any Hall of Fame credentials. Yes Wade Boggs, I'm talkin' to you.

    Guess we'll just have to disagree, Buck. Everything I've ever read by Neyer seems to be based on saber-geek stats.
