Bill Simmons thinks Jay Mariotti writes long.

I guess he got bored just doing that BIGSPORTSWRITER Twitter feed.

That photo screams, "Those who know me want to punch me."

He looks like a 50-year-old frat boy with cirrhosis.

Ordinarily I hate reader comments at the end of an article, but I'll make a big exception here. Those are classic.

The first comment begins "Hey Jay Remember when you got arrested for beating your girlfriend and got thrown in Jail." And then they get mean.

Thanks for the heads-up, PC. Those comments are gold.

Is that his own website or did some supposedly rational human decide he was an asset?

First line in "About Us:" for the website: "ChicagoSide brings you the best Chicago sports journalism in town."

Um, Jay lives in L.A. So much for that "best in town" schtick.

Mariotti has 1,161 followers on Twitter. That is shockingly low to me, even taking into account what an enormous asshole he is. In contrast, Bayless has 815,000. Stephen A. has 819,000.

Mariotti is (was) an unemployed, woman-beating convicted felon. Not surprising to me.

If only OJ was out, then we might have a good Twitter comparison!

But yeah, I was trying to think of someone as reviled as Mariotti for the Twitter comparison, and I couldn't think of anyone. Even bad fame typically still makes someone semi-relevant, but Mariotti has managed to avoid even that. Paris Hilton has 8.7 million followers, but she's just kind of stupid. Lohan has 4.2 million. Omarosa murdered Michael Clarke Duncan and has 39,000 followers. Courtney Love has 103,000.
