Aren't you the one who went off on me the other day for asking whether you liked to see bad guys punished?

As 21 noted, he'll be re-evaluated in 4 months. In most cases, those deemed at first incompetent eventually stand trial.

I don't think we have anything to worry about. He'll get his day in court.

Just makes me think back to this article in Slate about the insanity defense just after the shootings:

Which is to say you're interested in being pedantic again.

If you persuade me there's something in it for me, I can very easily play insane. Anybody could.

Loughner was, by all accounts, fucking scary nuts for about two years.

Anyone who thinks Loughner will ever breathe free air needs to pull his or her head out of his or her ass.

Does anyone want to put forward either of the following arguments?

    1. Jared Lee Loughner is sane.

    and/or

    2. We should submit for trial and/or execution the insane.

Actually, no you couldn't. Because an actual trained psychologist would be able to tell, in about five minutes, that that's what you were doing. I'm pretty sure they even have specific questions designed to catch people who are trying to pretend to be insane.
