    A 400-pound James Toney, though, that's a whole other matter, I suppose

That was ... a waste of however long that took.

Coming this fall on UFC 119, the corpse of John L. Sullivan lasts a minute and a half before tapping out to an 8 x 10 of Kimbo Slice in the Greatest Fight of the Century!

"I'll lick any son of a bitch in the house," Sullivan's corpse told reporters.

    Poor James Toney.

So, James Toney made his boxing return this past Thursday. He beat Damon Reed, who fell to 45-15 with the loss, by unanimous decision in a ten round fight. All three judges scored the bout 100-90.

Was the reliquary fingerbone of Jess Willard not available to "fight" Reed?

James Toney is going to give MMA another go. He's fighting Ken Shamrock in September. Ken Shamrock is such a physical wreck these days that Toney might actually win.

Shamrock signed when the glaciologist representing the frozen corpse of a 5300-year-old alpine hunter turned down the money.

If Toney wins, he has agreed to fight a test tube filled with the mitrochondrial DNA of Homo Neanderthalsis.

At the end of August James Toney was walking around at about 215 lbs. To put that in perspective, he was 237 lbs when he fought Randy Couture in the UFC, and in his last boxing bout, a ten round unanimous decision victory over Damon Reed back in February, he weighed 257 lbs. At the moment he's actually looking quite good.

It seems that the modified rules MMA fight with Ken Shamrock is off.

There is now talk of James Toney going over to Russia in order to box Denis Lebedev, of recent knocking out Roy Jones fame, in November. The fight would at cruiserweight. That would mean that Toney would have to make 200 lbs. He says that he can do it.

James Toney went over to Moscow last November. He fought Denis Lebedev. He dropped a decision. All three judges scored it 120-108. Yes, Toney lost every round.

Tonight, he's back though. He's fighting Bobby Gunn in Southaven, Mississippi.

Bobby Gunn is a Canadian fighter, now based out of New Jersey, who has competed extensively on the bare-knuckle boxing circuit. He also has a 21-4 pro boxing record.

Gunn's actually boxed for two world titles. In 2007 he went over to Wales and challenged Enzo Maccarinelli for the WBO World Cruiserweight Title. He lost in a round. In truth, Enzo kind of beat the shit out of him. No shame in that. Enzo was a good fighter (he's still fighting but is now greatly diminished) who could hit very hard. In 2009, in his last pro fight in fact, Gunn challenged Tomasz Adamek for the IBF World Cruiserweight title. He was unable to come out for the fifth round. In truth, Tomasz kind of beat the shit out of him. No shame in that. Tomasz is a good fighter.

Anway, tonight James Toney and Bobby Gunn get it on because they don't get along. Tickets start at $20. If I was in Southaven, Mississippi I'd go.

Toney weighed in at 248 lbs. If you are keeping score, that's 49 lbs heavier than he weighed in at for the Lebedev fight back in November.
