Was on quite a Stone Roses kick myself last year. Loved them in high school and I was surprised by how well their music has stood the test of time.

Only because all of these songs are on my Shuffle for the gym. Don't have counts because I'm not on iTunes now, but they have to be pretty high.
And Kato, iTunes does update the play count from your iPod when you sync it.

Appreciate the help, but after sampling through too many NOW albums to admit (I do admit I'm woefully out of touch when it comes to music) I figured out it was Gwen Stefani's "Sweet Escape."

    What are iTunes?

It would be interesting to know what I listen to the most, but who knows?

I was listening to Chuck Mangione today (good stuff for cleaning up the house). Before then, Pearl Jam. Then Earth, Wind & Fire, Chicago and a little Tony Banks.

    Oh well ...

I leave mine on shuffle almost exclusively. There's been more than once where I left it on all night, which accounts for some of this. I also have only ripped just barely over 50 percent of what I have, so there's some artists towards the end of the alphabet, like the Stones, that are under-represented. It isn't a very good list. I know there's songs I've played that didn't make the cut that I sought out, like, 11 times, such as Tonight by The Raspberries.

    With 25th place ties.

    1. Turn To You, Go Go's (16)
    1. Polk Salad Annie, Tony Joe White (16)
    3. Yummy, Yummy, Yummy, Ohio Express (15) -- this is one of those tunes my iPod mysteriously loves. Don't get me wrong, it rocks for a bubble gum tune.
    3. Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way, Waylon Jennings (15)
    5. Speed Of Life, David Bowie (14)
    5. Your Imagination, Hall & Oates (14)
    5. Harlem Clavinette, J.J. Johnson (14)
    5. Turn Around, Nirvana (14)
    5. Teenage Kicks, Undertones (14)
    5. A Quick One (live), The Who (14)
    11. Does Your Mother Know?, ABBA (13)
    11. Get It Hot, AC/DC (12)
    11. Allentown, Billy Joel (12)
    11. If You Leave Me Now, Chicago (12)
    11. Oh! You Pretty Things, David Bowie (13)
    11. Hang On To Yourself, David Bowie (13)
    11. Who Loves You, Frankie Valli (13)
    11. Game Of Pricks, Guided By Voices (13)
    11. The Closer You Are, Guided By Voices (13)
    11. Rise, Herb Alpert (13)
    11. Misty Mountain Hop, Led Zeppelin (13)
    11. Signed, Sealed, Delivered, Stevie Wonder (13)
    11. Pictures Of Lily, The Who (13)
    11. Out-A-Space, Billy Preston (13)
    25. And Your Bird Can Sing, Beatles (12)
    25. The Mighty Quinn, Bob Dylan (12)
    25. Dazz, Brick (12)
    25. Death Or Glory, The Clash (12)
    25. Always Crashing In The Same Car, David Bowie (12)
    25. Philadelphia Freedom, Elton John (12)
    25. Father's Name Was Dad, Fire (12)

Did you ever get into any of the other songs on BTCD?

Seriosuly, Sam, if you like music, you need to have an iPod. One of the best investments I've ever made. Shuffle's only 50 bucks. Just put all your albums into iTunes and load them on the iPod. I also have the classic iPod so I can listen to playlists or just a random selection from my 2,400 or so songs. I listen at work and at the gym always, and I can use it in my car, though I don't drive enough to do that too often.

Problem is I'm an audio snob. No doubting the portability of the iPod, but the music is still being compressed when it's loaded and that affects the sound quality.

I'm still a component guy. No, no turntables, pre-amps and truly hi-end stuff - there's a budget given my situation - but I can't bring myself to do iPod. Not all my stuff is orchestral or anything like that, but I like the music, not necessarily the lyrics and I don't know how badly the timbre and instrumentation will be compressed.

It's getting better, but it still has some work to do.

Never thought of that, since I'm not an audio snob at all. I could see that being an issue with the compression, but they definitely have plenty of high-end headphones, speakers that could help with the quality. I just like the portability of it. I truly don't know how I got by without it.
