I remember hearing something about this a few months ago, but it's rather epic, and it's on right now.

As much as I miss the old goal referee outfits I remember from highlights shows in my youth, I still find the double-pointing signal to be unintentionally hilarious.

Caught some of that. Great stuff. Damn, they blow the whistle a lot, and the announcers are blunt and sometimes pretty brutal on those guys.

I remember that old AFL highlights show. Once saw a guy score on a bicycle kick from about 10 yards out. The goal pointer, or whatever he's called, was laughing so hard from amazement he could barely make the call.

They've been airing a ton of matches on ESPN3(60) this year, too. Nothing like watching Carlton play Essenden (or whomever the teams are now).

Brutal game. Loved it during the first ESPN years.
Geeolong was my "favorite" team, simply because the name sort of stuck in my head.
The crowds were always outstanding at these games.
