First we findout that Charlie Rangel, while representing politics of the poor and economically disadvantaged is a tax cheat who accepts under the table financing for his foreign real estate holdings.

Now we find:Top federal regulators say they were taken aback when they learned that a California congresswoman who helped set up a meeting with bankers last year had family financial ties to a bank whose chief executive asked them for up to $50 million in special bailout funds.Representative Maxine Waters, Democrat of California, requested the September meeting on behalf of executives at OneUnited, one of the nation’s largest black-owned banks. Ms. Waters’s husband, Sidney Williams, had served on the bank’s board until early last year and has owned at least $250,000 of its stock.

Ms. Waters declined on Tuesday to comment on the meeting, or to say whether her husband still owned shares of OneUnited. Ms. Waters, a member of the House Financial Services Committee, did not disclose her ties to OneUnited to Treasury officials, who said they learned of them only later. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/13/us/politics/13waters.html?_r=1

Two of the most liberal members in the history of the US Congress, Waters and Rangel have seemingly borrowed a page of the sleazy right's handbook. It certainly is refreshing to see rank hypocricy, abuse of power and the use of office for public enrichment isn't limited to the Dick Cheney's of the world. Now, reagrdless of race, sex or political party, being a scum sucking thief is open to all.

Am I missing the blue font here, or did you seriously sleep through the heydays of John F. Kennedy and Jesse Jackson, et al?

  5. Wait. Bankers came wanting money. On the board once was a congresswoman's husband who may have owned stock, or may not have.
And a bunch of Bush-era Treasury officials are now complaining?
    Stop the presses.
    Two words -- energy commission.
    Actually, a third word....Halliburton.

Gosh, I wasn't aware that up until recently it had been exclusive to any one party. Thanks for the update, chief.
