    I think the point was that he has a better feel than Hill of what is and isn't necessary.

    I got the gist of what he was trying to get across. Just seems like a bit of a mixed message -- that when the phone rings, he'll vote not to act.

    He voted against a war based on false premises. Not really a mixed message there.

    So, when the "phone rings," the president's default reaction should be to invade a country we had a proxy beef with a decade earlier, thereby putting enormous strain on our military and further inflaming tensions in the Middle East?
