Those people don't give a shit about economy. Their minds have no room for it with the hate that occupies it.

Those people don't give a shit about economy. Their minds have no room for it with the hate that occupies it. They send their own as suicide bombers. A certain faction of this country should understand this as similar to the government sending our men and women into a blood-waste attempt to bring democracy to sixth century mentalities.

Israel still controls the borders, don't they? They're still bombing civilians' houses, aren't they?

Still not sure how that equals an "apartheid situation".

Egypt controls the border to try and prevent weapons that could be used against them from entering. Does that strike you as odd? We would do the same thing. We've done it in the past with Cuba.

And, they bomb "civilians' houses" because Hamas launches rocket attacks from civilian areas. What would you do in similar circumstances? What does the U.S. do in Afghanistan and Yemen?

Your country has been attacked by missiles launched from a civilian area in a neighboring country.
    Do you:
    A) Do what the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) does and warn the civilians via phone calls and by dropping empty shells on the roof of the homes as a sign to get out 15 minutes before the attack?
    B) Do nothing because you might hit civilians?
    C) Send in ground troops to search for and destroy the hundreds of short and long range missiles and missile launchers hidden in the civilian neighborhoods where the civilians are loyal to those attacking you?
    D) Something else?

Israel chooses to fight fire with fire. In one case the IDF saw a civilian family evacuate the home with the warning, launched the missile targeting the house (or a nearby house), then the family went back into the house and got killed.

It would be so much simpler if Israel would just compromise with the folks who want to wipe them off the face of the Earth:

Take it up with the UN, Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, all of whom label Gaza as under Israeli control. Stop acting like the idea of Israel as an occupying force is some insane fringe theory. It's not.

I recognize that apartheid is a very contentious word, so I'll dial it back to a related concept: Bantustan. If you have to get the permission of another country to leave the borders of your homeland, you're living in one.

By the way, Israel bombed a mosque and a group home for the handicapped today. But the Palestinians made them do it.

From the New York Times: "Israel bombed a mosque, which its aerial photos indicated was harboring a weapons cache..."

In a rare Saturday briefing for reporters at Israeli military headquarters in Tel Aviv, a senior military official said, when asked, that the army was looking into what happened at the center for the disabled. “A group is investigating now what was the target, what was the intelligence,” he said, speaking on the condition of anonymity in line with military protocol.

The briefing was an apparent effort to rebuff growing international alarm at the rising death toll from the airstrikes in Gaza and the calls for restraint.

The official spoke of the difficulties the air force faced in minimizing collateral damage in the densely populated environment of Gaza, describing the mission as “very challenging,” and showed video clips from the air that he said demonstrated the military’s care in targeting.

One clip showed a mission that was aborted because civilians, including children, were spotted in the vicinity of the target. Another showed a strike on a three-story house the official said belonged to a Hamas brigade commander in a crowded neighborhood of Khan Younis, which set off huge secondary explosions, indicating a weapons cache.

“Hamas’s operational infrastructure is not in specific military camps or posts,” he said. A building with two floors may have a weapons storage site on the first floor, he said, “and above it, regular families.”

But this attack, one of two mosques hit on Saturday, was no mistake. Here Israeli intelligence was convinced, and issued photographs to support its case, that the mosque also served as “a Hamas rocket cache and a gathering point for militants,” the army’s spokesman, Lt. Col. Peter Lerner, said in a statement.

Israel doesn't occupy Gaza. It doesn't administer Gaza, it doesn't police Gaza, it doesn't inhabit Gaza. It walls off Gaza from the north and the west with Egypt controlling its southern border and the Med Sea on the east. Like the West Bank, which was once Jordan and not Palestine, Gaza was once Egypt. The Egyptians, like the Jordanians, want nothing to do with the muslim inhabitants of the conquored territories. No one wants the Gazans. They want to use Gaza to attack Israel.

This crisis needs a new set of eyes. It's really time for Netanyahu to take a hike.
