Despite Wang's attempts to derail the franchise -- I was silently livid during the GM debacle -- I still consider myself a fan.

And while I like DiPietro, it's pure lunacy to lock him up for 15 years, no matter the cost or what the NHL caponomics are. There better be a buyout or voidable years clause in this deal.

You have to also remember that Mad Mike TRADED Luongo to get DiPietro. Luongo is probably the best young goalie in the league. DiPietro doesn't even make it in the top five.

But the Mike also traded away McCabe, Bertuzzi and others too numerous to mention.

DiPietro wasn't even picked in my 10-team Yahoo league...'nuff said.

Nick Kypreos did not break this story. It was in Newsday before he "reported" it on radio this morning.

It's a sign-and-trade deal worked out with the Knicks. The Isles will now trade DiPietro and Rich Larkin (current Zamboni driver of Nassau Coliseum) to the Knicks for David Lee.

The Islanders are now the Oakland Raiders of the NHL.

    Sirs, Madames,

Next fall DiPietro will be looking to negotiate an extension.

    YHS, etc

He's no Magic Johnson (25-year contract with Lakers).

I'm not a big puckhead. Is DiPietro even a top 5 goalie in the Eastern Conference?
