That's what blew me away. The station I listen to plays the Beatles — and obviously Pearl Jam. I found it strange. But after reading some responses, I guess it's normal.

I hear the Beatles every day on the classic rock station in NYC

I have heard the rule of thumb is 20 years.

So U2 is classic, but Pearl Jam is not.

Actually, classic alternative or college music stations should start popping up.

Leave the 1970 rock to the true classic rockers.

I don't hate them, I just don't see why anyone would love them. Same with U2, they do nothing for me. But I think both have been classic rock from the start in that their music will live as long as rock does.

Ten came out 18 years ago. Holy shit, that makes me feel old.

    No doubt.

Pearl Jam will easily go down as the best rock band of its generation.

Easily? That's a mighty strong word.

Who else from the the Grunge Era you going to put up there?

Nirvana? Love 'em, but three albums is all there was.

And, after those two, I have trouble even naming a pretender to the throne.

    So, yeah, easily, I think.

    Alice in Chains, Soundgarden...

Plenty of bands who only had three albums get plenty of air time on classic rock stations.
