Is there one last great part for Gene Hackman?

One of my favorites, it depresses me that, at 77, he may not ever get a good role again, leaving the pathetic Welcome to Mooseport as the final film of his career.

    Sad.

Re: another old classic, Michael Caine is playing the Olivier part in the remake of sleuth, with Jude Law playing another former Michael Caine role.....

    Class Action II?

    *****

Seriously, though, look at the great late-life roles afforded to Richard Harris and Peter O'Toole.

Hackman's still in decent health, eh?

I love Hackman. I'm not sure how many great roles he would get, but even his roles in "Runaway Jury" and "Behind Enemy Lines" were more than enough to get to me to watch the movie when it came on HBO.

I dunno.... but a film with Caine might be ideal... were there ever two more prolific movie actors?

They've done pretty well with his book adaptations.

I also liked Brad Renfro, Tommy Lee and Sarandon in The Client.

    That opening is entrancing.

I love Hackman. Poseidon, French Connection, Superman, Hoosiers, Blood & Wine (with Jack no less!), Crimson Tide. Lot of good movies. I think he's got one last great role in him.

IMDB says he's doing the voice for what looks to be a new Dirty Harry videogame...

I agree with Meat Loaf--with that resume, there has to be at least one more great role for him out there.

He'd be a great mayor when and if Jericho: The Movie gets made.

He's 77? There's no way Hackman can end his run by doing voiceovers on Lowe's hardware commercials.

Let us not forget his Academy Award winning performance in "Unforgiven."

Little Bill (Hackman): I don't deserve to die like this... I was building a house.
Munny (Eastwood): Deserve's got nothing to do with it.
Little Bill: I'll see you in hell William Munny.
    Munny: Yeah.
    Gunshot.
