I would expect Winnipeg to be decent, and certainly not bet-against-82-times terrible.

Winnipeg and Colorado could be okay, though probably not great. Colorado was a 90-point team last season and missed the playoffs, IIRC. They play in the toughest division, but when they venture outside of it (like when Winnipeg trucked Boston last night), they probably won't be awful.

Arizona will suck, as will New Jersey. Carolina isn't as godawful but has few redeeming qualities. Arizona is probably the leader in the clubhouse for worst team in the league, but they're probably the only gimme in the West. Toronto is in a similar boat to Carolina.

I'm not sure why anybody thinks Winnipeg will be terrible. they were a playoff team last year and have more talent this year. Although, having Pavlec n net is always the great equalizer.

The Canucks should take a big step back this year as well.

Didn't the same hockey dorks slobber over the Oilers when Ryan Nugent-Hopkins debuted in 2011?

Weird that the Caps have to wait four days for their opener.
Also, I'm not ready to let Joel Ward go, so I'm heading up to the phone booth Tuesday when the Sharks come to town.
