Is there anything more delicious than a donut peach?

I never had one until recently. There is a farmer's market near where I live and work. This one place from upstate NY trucks down produce. We bought some donut peaches (also called saturn peaches) a few weeks ago and I have been loading up since.

I am not a big fruit guy. Prefer veggies. But I am chowing on these things. They are smaller than a regular peach, but sweet as anything.

Are these things common, and I am making a big deal over nothing? The guy at the market said they originally come from China, and were brought over here in the 1800s.

I was with you until the word "peach."

I don't know about donut peaches, but the introduction to a fruit can be a very memorable experience.

I vividly recall my first taste of a Granny Smith apple and how it rendered all other apples obsolete for a very long time. Now I appreciate the subtleties of different varieties, but nothing will every be like that first taste of a Granny.

And donut or otherwise, nothing beats a fresh peach.

And by fresh, I mean, picked recently in an orchard near you and so fresh, you have to eat it over the sink.

Doughnut peaches are more delicious than donut peaches.

    Also more delicious: doughnuts.

I can't believe "donut peach" isn't something I need to look up on Urban Dictionary.

    Aye, what's this aboat, Hoser?

    Anyway, Versatile's fruit power rankings:

    1. Clementines
    2. Bananas
    3. Strawberries
    4. Mangos
    5. Watermelons
    6. Grapefruits
    7. Queen Anne cherries
    8. Comice pears
    9. Doughnut peaches
    10. Purple grapes

Around Christmastime every year, I eat enough of clementines to cure scurvy throughout Africa, or wherever they still have scurvy epidemics.

I live amidst miles and miles of fruit groves, citrus and stone fruit.
I don't care for peaches, though. The fuzzy texture of the skin is unappleaing to me.
    Nectarines? Love them.
Also, satsumas are better than clementines.

  12. Peaches come from a can they were put there by a man
