Is the Yankees' 1999 World Series championship trophy really up for sale?

    This suggests that it is.

How and why would the team get rid of it? Yeah, I know they've got 26 of them and all that. It's still a piece of history. Unless, of course, it's a fake.

I gotta think that, much like Lombardi Trophies, the team gets several for a win. Maybe as much as one per player and ownership.

Original is on display in Yankee offices. Players and staff are allowed to buy replicas and every so often you see them for sale.

Pete Rose financed some of his gambling habit selling championship rings. It's in the Dowd report.

OK. Didn't know that about multiple/replica trophies. That explains it.

You could not have seriously thought that the Yankees were selling their trophy at a card show.

I heard some insane employee dinged one up by dragging it behind his car. Is that the one for sale?

"For sell" and "at a card show" are the same thing?

Read the article - the guy is talking about what dealers are selling at the national collectors convention.

ok ya got me - its a convention and not a card show.

I skimmed through it. Is the trophy on sell at the convention?

Yes - it sounds like in conjunction with convention there is a trade show where collectors are selling their goods.
