Is the rehab of Tiger Woods' image complete?

Yeah, it was bs - since everyone knew what a hound the guy was despite the public image he tried to project. Figure a lot of it was piling for his kind of prickish demeanor to people who have microphones and pens and know how to use them.

I don't think this is true.

Whether or not "everyone knew" that Ed Koch was gay came up after he died.

You're really overestimating how closely the general public pays attention to these things.

If the media, along with Nike, Gatorade and Buick tell us Tiger Wood (or Michael Jordon) is a great guy who deserves to be emulated, the vast majority of the public is going to believe it.

I don't think it was overblown because everybody already knew.

I think it was overblown because: Who gives a fuck?

Seems like Tiger has served his time in the court of public opinion.

If Kobe can pretty much wipe the slate clean, so can Tiger.

It was a bit more than that.

Multiple porn stars, a wife attacking him, a car accident, paying people to be silent... I'm sure there are other athletes who have done similar things (Jordan), but Woods' situation became public when he got into the car wreck.

Tiger's scandal was a perfect shitstorm from his perspective.

But, at root, it was a gossip-driven story about an athlete's personal life. He didn't get caught using PEDs. He didn't get arrested. He didn't get into any financial messes. He had a lot of sex with a lot of women. The shitstorm that followed was a low moment for the mainstream media, and history will remember it that way more than it will remember it as an embarrassment for Woods himself.

It would have been very interesting what would have happened if there was no car wreck. He'd get divorced quietly, wouldn't lose any endorsements and could just keep doing what he was doing all along...

I think if he was simply caught having an affair or two nobody would have blinked, but when a guy has a pretty good image nationally and porn stars are lining up to tell their Tiger Woods story, it's not going to go over too well with the company that is paying him seven and eight figures to be the face of their product.

I don't feel sorry for Woods, but I think he's more than paid for what he did.

  8. I think if someone had done more digging or had an inkling of drive they could better link Tiger to PEDs instead of just speculation.

  9. That has to be the most expensive car wreck in history.

There was a story over the weekend about his kids meeting Lindsey Vonn.

What I think is interesting is that the rumors about Tiger and Elin getting back together came out within a week of the new Tiger-Rory McElroy ad.

Seriously, what's his crime?? Cheated on his wife. That's it. WHO CARES?? So does a massive segment of the population. He got exposed, embarrassed, divorced. Made a ridiculous apology that no one outside his family needed to hear. Now it's a big deal that he's playing golf with a president? Presidents can't play with guys who fuck around? You'd never get a foursome together if that was the case. (Has to be a good threesome joke in there, no time to dig it out, have at it.)

Is it true Obama asked him, "Hey, what's the difference between a Titleist and a Mercedes?"
