is the long commute to work worth it?

I'm about 12-15 minutes from work and can't imagine driving 90 minutes one way to get to my gig. How long is your commute, and what'd be the max for you?

Isn't 12,015 minutes from work farther than 90 minutes each way?

I live approximately .3 miles from my office. I used to live 2.1 miles, but then I moved closer to work.

I used to live 30 miles away from work, and then after that I lived a mile from work.

What I found was this: Distance doesn't really matter if you love the job.

When I was 30 miles away, big deal. I loved the job and the drive. Lots of time to drive and think.

When I was a mile away from work, big deal the other way. I got to work before I wanted to get to work.

Find the place you want to live and work, and then find out what it takes to make it all work out for you.

    That's what I learned.

I live 48 miles from the office. It's a bitch of a commute, but it's nice to go to the grocery store and be just another face in the crowd.

At my current gig, I'm literally 10 minutes from the office by car. Except for a publisher and CEO husband and wife combination that sometimes gets on my last nerve, I love the job.

My previous job was about a two-hour commute taking public transportation. If I were to take the bus to work now, it'd be about half an hour.

If it's a job you love, the commute probably isn't that big a deal even if you're stuck on a major highway for a while. If you hate it, being up the street from your gig isn't going to make life any better.

The big city sucks, in my view.

Money is better there, but fuck the money.

Life is better in a normal town. A normal town with nice neighbors and real people at the diner.

The kind of people you actually want to get to know.

I live 10-12 minutes from work.

Used to live 30-45 minutes away, depending on traffic in Lexington, when I lived in Frankfort.

Before I changed jobs, I lived a block from the office.

Yeah, well, I loved the big city myself, at first.

After that, too many assholes there.

Fuck those city assholes. They don't know shit about people.

On top of that, liars, cheaters and assholes everywhere you look.

    Welcome to The City.

Less than eight minutes. If I hit the lights wrong, 10.
