Under Leach, Tech would have still given up 52........but they would have scored 63.

I don't know about Texas Tech, but Kansas football is certainly dead.

The University of Texas Conference will be a great 10-team football conference. As long as you're Texas or Oklahoma. It'll be OK for Oklahoma State, Missouri or Kansas State, though none should expect glory. It will absolutely, positively suck for the other five.

It's not dead - but it is in a darkened shed.

The program has taken a sharp blow to the head. In 2008 the day they beat Texas that was their coming out party to the rest of the country. It went downhill from there. Leach made Tech relevant.

    As does SMU.

    7 Texas Tech University 31,637
8 The University of Texas at San Antonio 30,395

And UT-Arlington's undefeated since 1986 ... how many of those big-time programs say that? ;)

Can Colorado afford to dump Hawkins and hire Leach?

    Can they afford not to?

    Buh . . .but . . . I thought Jim Harbaugh considered that job?

If Colorado hadn't hired Hawkins, who is kind of a free spirit himself, I think they might have gone with Leach if they make a change. I'm guessing a more meat and potatoes coach, though I don't see any of the non-BCS hot coaches (Boise, TCU, Utah or Nevada) taking the job. I can't even think of an ACC or Big East coach who would thrill the alums. Now, maybe if Richt is tossed aside....

Colorado needs to hire Leach because no other decent coach will go there.
