Is recruiting coverage the answer?

    I doubt it seriously but that works until the "bug" is squashed.

    If you're a metro paper in any place where college sports are a bigger deal than the pros, then you need someone at the paper who does nothing but recruiting.
    The fans of the college programs you cover want to know about recruiting. So you give them at least a little bit of what they want.
    I suspect that at the larger papers, most of the preps coverage will be focused on recruiting. Already a star player and his team gets more coverage at most places, it is just an extension of that.
