    I don't think he's the only one but I think you could count the number of them that dare to mention it on one hand. It's particularly baffling when the Defense Department is proposing things it wants to cut and thinks are non-essential or wasteful and Congress tells them 'No, you're wrong because this lobbyist from a contracting company who makes millions overcharging your for widgets in my district told me so' as happened with Gates last year.

    Speaking of the defense department - there is a reason that people are recommended to have a radio in their emergency kits in case of a disaster. I think the U.S. should be obligated to operate a radio network of some kind, if only so people will know where to get their Emergency Broadcast messages.
