    The last two dailies I've been at, deskers made more money. And if a reporter filled in on the desk he/she was paid a premium to do so.
     
  2. Don't forget, a good graphics artist (drawing talent, research skills, decent speller) will make even more than a good page designer.

    Like someone on here said earlier, it's all about supply and demand ...

    Got to have some incentive to make people sit behind a desk for eight to 10 hours rather than mingle at games.

    You got it Oz. Where I've had to fill in on desks, I've missed being out of the office dearly. And I kept thinking that the money wasn't good enough to desk full-time. I don't mind once in a while, for a change of pace, but after a couple days, I'm ready to go cover something, write something.
