Is deadline writing no longer good enough for BASW?

There is no "I" in SB Nation Longform.

Oh, wait, yes there is. To the detriment of the storytelling.

Speaking of sharp newspaper writing filed on deadline (granted with a good amount of reporting done in days ahead of time):

Whew, that's a damn fine story. Sports Illustrated can cancel the pre-planned hunting trip.

Very good stuff. And that closing was damn near perfect.

Just heard that a story I loved last year isn't going to be in this year's BASW.

    It's a crying fucking shame.

Yeah. It's probably a shitty story now that the BASW people didn't include it.

    What?

    Big fan of the 1st, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 18th and 19th choices on the list.

The 4th and 15th selections on that list are, IMO, poor selections, and the author of the 15th is nails most of the rest of the time.

Not much of a year for SI, I guess, just the one. Better year for ESPN's properties, with the six.

In the side wager for Byline of the Year, it's too close to call for FLINDER BOYD and BURKHARD BILGER.

... meanwhile, I try to google WELLS TOWER and all I get are skyscrapers.com results.
